Why doesn't the library have a better search engine?

Thank you for the feedback. We're sorry for your frustration.

The library provides access to many research databases, some of which are more intuitive to search than others. We purchase these services from outside vendors who strive to improve their products based on input from library users.

The library's traditional print catalog uses somewhat older technology that, we admit, isn't terribly user friendly.

We recently implemented a search engine called Summon, which searches many of the library's research databases as well as the print collections at Herrick and Scholes libraries. We invite you to give it a try if you haven't already.

Summon is designed to provide a more Google-like search experience. If you have specific suggestions for how it can be improved, we would be glad to pass them along.
