How do I access sci-finder from off-campus? It allows me to login and then sends me to a blank page as if the task is completed.

I can successfully login using the proxy server, and then when I input my username and password to the sci-finder site itself, I'm redirected to a blank page. However, in the address bar, it appears as though I've logged in.

Hello Brittany,

Typically to access SciFinder off-campus you would use this link that can be found on our LibGuides. From the sounds of it though you're already using this link as you're getting the proxy login. Just to be sure you're aware SciFinder also has it's own account you must set up and that can be done here. If you've already done that and have used SciFinder before then there are few other things you may need to check:

  • Using a current and up to date Internet Browser (Current versions of Chrome and Internet Explorer worked for me when I was testing the issue).
  • Make sure you are allowing JavaScript on the SciFinder page (NoScript and other similar addons can block JavaScript). The login process uses this.
  • If none of that works you can also try clearing your internet browsing history and cache, sometimes the saved cookies and data can cause problems. Let me know if you need instructions on how to do this.

If none of these solutions work feel free to reply and I'll put in a support ticket with SciFinder on your behalf.
